What do you expect ? About the Nokia Lumia 900

The Lumia 800 is a heartbreaker : wait for this moment when you will put your fingers on it and you’ll see what I mean. It hearts because the design is insanely good, and it even more hurts because the inside is good but not killer. The Nokia N8 has a better camera, the N9 has more memory for those who want some more place for their digital life, the screen is bigger than an iPhone 4S but smaller than all other flagship devices, etc.

So, what can we expect for the Lumia 900 in 3 months ?
The answer is quite simple : all that some of us miss with the 800, plus what we all love with the current Lumia.

    Windows Phone Tango 1
First we can expect an improved version of Windows Phone 7 called Tango. It should ne be groundbreaking at all, but we should get some valuable goodies.

In the hardware department, we can hope for:

    • Lumia 900 gorgeous design, slightly evolved
    • 4.3″ inch screen,
    • 12Mpx main camera
    • front secondary camera,
    • 32GB of ROM

All this is really what the Lumia 800 may lack for some users, even if most of us will be in heaven when we will in heaven while opening their cyan, magenta or black Lumia 800 packaging in a couple of weeks !

Windows Phone attacks – Act I

Act I ? Yes, definitly, because we all know that last year was just the required warmup, a warm call to developpers before offering a better system and interesting devices. Now that Mango is here, with 37000 apps available, the picture is clearly different and Microsoft can pretend to get in the ring !

I don’t know how it goes in the USA, but here in Europe there’s lot of HTC adds for the Titan and it’s little brother the Radar, while the giant Nokia campaign already started. Metro is a lot more visible than ever before. Christmas may be really really warm this year !

Chevron WP7 – Windows Phone 7 official homebrew available !

Here we are folks, the Chevron WP7 tools are finally online and available for you to unlock officially your Windows Phone !
9$ per token using paypal, seems fair enough if you don’t wait to pay for a developper account (75$/year).

Once you get everything installed on your PC, you can run the Chevron WP7 tool. It will ask for your phone, then you have the following screen :

Seems’s like it may take hours… Five minutes later :

    2 hours later…

I guess I’ll have to wait until tomorrow before I can tell you how it goes 😉

Segway PT – Taste the future

I know the Segway PT (Personnal Transporter) is not something new but I was talking about it last week with some collegues and those who tried it, myself included, all agreed on one point : everyone has to try it !

Moving with it is a crazy experience, because it is so easy that it feels unreal. Remember how hard it was when you learned how to use a bicycle ? Well you will never have this hassle with the Segway PT, as you learn how to use it in less than 5-10 minutes. It is THAT easy. Remember the iPhone in 2007 compared to other smartphones ? The Segway PT is the same compared to bicycles. But as the PT moves for you and manage gravity on its own, you have nothing else to do than take care of the environnement and enjoy the trip !

It is a unique sensation, and if you want a taste of the future you have to try it at least once.

Nokia new design – N9, Lumia 800, Lumia 900 and Windows 8 Tablet

I want an N9 since I saw the first leaks, then I’ll get a Lumia 800 as it gets the mighty Windows Phone Mango instead of the sweet but desperate MeeGo.
The new Nokia design is mind-blowing !

    • It looks AWESOME (we will never say it enough, wait to get your hands on it !).
    • It looks personnal, it has character, it’s recognizable at first sight ! You can’t tell the same about all those corean phones flooding the market since the iPhone came out in 2007. This has an incredible value for the future of the Nokia brand. And, which is maybe a personnal state, it doesn’t looks ‘cold’ and souless as an iPhone 4/4S.
    • It looks high-end like an iPhone 4/4S, which is truly only the case of …the iPhone 4 right now! Forget all Samsung’s cheap platic phones for good here.
    • It doesn’t need an ugly cover to protect it because its scratch resistant. Also, the body color won’t go away as it is in the polycarbonate, it’s not a paintjob.

We all know that the Nokia Lumia 900 (Aka “Ace”) is coming in the beginning of 2012 in the United States of A. All I hope is that it will keep the same great design, with the required improvments : a bigger screen, more inbuilt memory or an µSD slot, the incredible Nokia N8 camera and more RAM.

Looking at the future, we also know that Nokia has plans to study all options to make other markets products. They tried the netbook market, with the really nice Nokia Blooklet 3G. It was a failure for two reasons : premium high price for a Netbook, and its specifications were outdated even before it came out…

Now with their intimate partnership with Microsoft they could strike back in the tablet market better than ever with Windows 8 in 2012. Let’s see how it would look :

Not bad at all, right ? They build it, I buy it.

    Samsung Focus S first hands-on !

This is for you american Windows Phone lovers (because nobody knows yet if this device will spread in other countries in the future…) : the first video preview of the Focus S aka SGH-i937!

Sadly no words on specifications there. How many onboard memory? Is there a µSD slot available like in the original Samsung Focus ?
So many question unanswered yet, but we will be fixed october 6th at last as this is the day the Focus S and its little brother Focus Flash will be available on at&t !

Everything is over there, on Windows Phone Daily after the break.

Hints for future Nokia flagship – Nokia Lumia “Ace” 900

I wondered how both devices cameras compared, and here is a good article about it. The Nokia N8 is still the king in the camera department, which is a fact I fully agree with :

Nokia, here is all the love we need inside your Q1 2012 flagship “Ace/Lumia 900”:

    • the Nokia Lumia 800 gorgeous design, just a little bigger and a bit thinner
    • the N8 Camera, improved with a 2.2 max aperture
    • 4,5″ AMOLED Clear Blach Display Screen
    • 16GB of ROM + µSD slot as in the Samsung Focus (which is how my Focus has 40GB today…)
    • 1GB of RAM to have more applications open at the same time

With this design and these specifications, Nokia would crush competition. When you look at how ugly is the Samsung Nexus Galaxy, and how awesome is, you know the potential of those finish teams… Just stop providing small screens phones only : the iPhone is not anymore the beast to beat, 3.7″ is not enough !

Lenovo to enter the Windows Phone 7 Mango Party ?

WPCentral got some pictures of what loks to be a Lenovo Windows Phone prototype called the S2 ! It would be another great OEM partner for our favorit mobile OS.

Nice simple design, looks like a Google Nexus S running Windows Phone Mango which is kinda fun 😉
